I have been with the VALRC for just over a year. Hired as the publications manager, I spend my time writing and editing various publications for the Resource Center and the Office of Adult Education and Literacy. Recently, I've been very active in the Race to GED component of the governor's Education for a Lifetime initiative.

A native Hoosier, I moved to the Richmond area three years ago. I have a bachelor's degree from Ball State University, where I majored in English literature and speech communication. In August, I began work on my master's in English literature at VCU, which I will complete in December 2005.

Whereas a short time ago I would have taken a moment to mention my hobbies and other interests, I now don't have any other interests. I checked them all at the door that read “Grad Students Enter Here.” Since then, I regard driving to and from campus and going to the grocery store as my hobbies. Eating lunch is also an exciting diversion. Occasionally, I will lean back in my library chair and wax nostalgic about hiking, canoeing, tossing the ball to my dog, and sleeping late on the weekends.
