The report includes recommendations to make Family Literacy a priority, fund a state family literacy grant program, elevate the Office of Adult Education and Literacy in the Department of Education, and appoint an Advisory Council on Adult Education to report annually to the Board. From the Margins to the Mainstream: An Action Agenda for Literacy Guide for a Two- or Three-Hour Group Discussion and Planning Meeting: Produced by the National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy (NCSALL), this guide provides information for facilitators to run a discussion and planning meeting with a group of people interested in learning about and taking action related to the Adult Literacy Summit Action Agenda. The guide is designed for groups such as literacy coalitions, program staff, state-level staff, or other governmental and non-profit organizations involved in supporting the field of adult literacy. Measures and Methods for the National Reporting System for Adult Education: Implementation Guidelines: The National Reporting System (NRS) is a project to develop an accountability system for the federally-funded adult education program. Workforce Investment Act of 1998: This site offers an overview of the Workforce Investment Act. It was produced by the U.S. Department of Labor to highlight the major features of the new legislation and to give state and local elected officials, program designers and operators, and the public quick information about the structure, funding, and target population groups to be served.
