Handout 2: Who are my federal, state and local representatives? Group 1: Find your U.S. Senators.Directions: Go to www.senate.gov . Click on List Senators by State. Scroll down to VA. Click on each name to get full information 1. Who are the Senators for Virginia? 2. How can you contact them? (Put an address and phone number)

you send an email to them? Group 2: Find your U.S. Representatives.Directions: Go to www.house.gov. Click on House Directory. Scroll down to where it says Choose a State and select Virginia from the pull-down menu Click View 1. List all of the Representatives for the State of Virginia. (You should see a list of names, the districts these people are from, and their hometown.) 2. Who is the Representative for your district? (Find the name nearest to your home or ask your teacher which district you are in)

can contact your Representative? (Put an address & phone number.) Group 3: Find your state and local representatives. Directions: GO to www.myvirginia.org. Click on Government on the left of the page. Click on State Government Branches. Click on Elected Officials. Scroll down and click on Members of the Virginia Senate and the House of Delegates. Click on Who’s my Legislator at the top of the page. Fill in the boxes that do NOT have “optional” beside them (your address, city & zip) Click on Lookup. 1. Who is your Senator for the State Government in Richmond and how can you contact them? 2. Who is your Delegate for the House of Delegates in Richmond and how can you contact them? Note: The Congressional Representative listed should be the same person Group 2 lists for their answer to number 2. |
