This is a special Internet edition of Writing from the Heart Volume III. Some of the stories that are in the book do not appear in this Internet edition. This is the third collection of student writings produced by Literacy Volunteers of America - Roanoke Valley. From the writings and the information about the authors, you can readily tell that the learners have varied and interesting backgrounds with varied skill levels. However, they all clearly share one desire - to improve themselves and enrich their lives through literacy.

This project, which was generously funded by The Southland Corporation/7-Eleven Stores, has served as a valuable teaching aide and has also allowed us to share with you the progress and pride of a small group of our learners.

We are proud of our learners, and of our program which has supplied free literacy services to over 2,000 learners since 1985.
