This Guide was produced at the Arlington Education and Employment Program (REEP), Arlington, Virginia, with support from the Virginia Department of Education and the Verizon Links Virginia for Literacy project of George Mason University. The REEP program uses a learner-centered/Competency Based Education (CBE) approach to English as a Second Language instruction. Students in nine instructional levels and classes are offered 12 week courses (150-180 hours) of intensive instruction, and 10 week courses (40 hours) of non-intensive instruction.
