A Busy Teacher's Guide to EFF Lesson Planning

By Mary Kay Alegre, Arlington Education and Employment Program, 2000

You've heard about EFF, and you're fairly sure it means "Equipped for the Future." You think you'd like to design an EFF lesson in your class, but you're not sure what it would look like when you finish it. From what you've heard, you think it sounds like what you already do in the ESL classroom, and you're probably right.
But, you'd like to try to make your planning more intentional, you want to make sure your lessons are up-to-date, and match the needs of a person living in the real world, during this century!
With the best intentions, you consult an EFF resource and you begin to gather some information. Soon comes information overload, and you're quite sure you don't have the time to put all the pieces together in your mind, and come up with a plan that reflects a profound and integrated understanding of the EFF Content Standards. Help is on the way!

Turn the page for a teacher's guide to understanding the EFF Content Standards and EFF Terminology, and to designing an EFF lesson.
