Course Information

For adult educators who are unable to attend a local training session, the VALRC offers Core Instructor Training online. During this eight-week course, participants and facilitators communicate via e-mail and online discussions.

Each lesson addresses a topic in adult education. Course activities include readings, assignments, and discussions. You will get to meet and work with the four adult learners on this page. You will use their case studies or your own adult learners as a guide to help you work through the course from initial contact to instructional planning.

Completion of the workshop is designed to require a minimum of 16 hours of your time; approximately 2 hours for each of the eight (8) topic sessions. The course certificate of completion may be used for certification points. Workshop lessons are sequential and self-paced. Return as often as you wish to the activities and discussions. You'll want to revisit the previous discussions to read and comment upon what others have found.
