Verizon /University media events:

Each university planned and organized a media event showcasing their
projects. Key people from business, industry, schools, universities, and
the community were invited to the events to celebrate
and discuss the impact of the Verizon Links Virginia for Literacy project.
Both Virginia Commonwealth University and James Madison University
staged
ribbon-cutting ceremonies celebrating the opening of the Verizon Workforce
Skills Computer Lab, Adult Career Development Center, and the Verizon Workforce Development Learning Skills Center, Dayton Learning Center.
George Mason University hosted a forum to discuss literacy-related
topics,
while Old Dominion University invited guest speakers to address project
partnership issues. |
Virginia Commonwealth University Event:
VCU celebrated the opening of the new "Verizon
Workforce Skills Computer Lab" with a ribbon cutting ceremony. VCU's event
was held at the Adult Career Development Center, Richmond.

George Mason University Event:
| As part of the Verizon Links Virginia for Literacy project, George Mason University held a panel discussion to discuss literacy topics including workforce education, technology use in adult literacy programs, and curriculum.
Verizon's Brack Marquette informed participants about economic development issues that impact literacy.

Old Dominion University Event:
